The Caregiver/Nanny Program allows Canadian families to hire foreign caregivers for children, the elderly, or individuals with disabilities. Our team of experienced immigration consultants will guide you through each step of the application process, from obtaining the necessary documentation to ensuring a smooth transition for your new caregiver.


Eligibility Requirements
Before applying for the Caregiver/Nanny Program, both the employer and the caregiver must meet specific eligibility requirements:
For Employers:
- Proof of Need: Demonstrate the need for a foreign caregiver by providing a detailed job description and proof that no Canadian citizen or permanent resident is available for the position.
- Financial Capacity: Provide evidence of financial capability to pay the caregiver’s salary and provide suitable living conditions.
- Employment Contract: Draft a comprehensive employment contract outlining job duties, hours of work, salary and benefits.
For Caregivers:
Qualifications: Have at least one year of experience or training in the relevant field (childcare, elderly care or disability care).
Language Proficiency: Demonstrate proficiency in English or French to effectively communicate with the family and perform job duties.
Educational Requirements: Hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
Medical Examination: Pass a medical examination to ensure good health.


Application Process

Step 1: Initial Consultation Schedule an initial consultation with our immigration consultants to assess your needs and determine the eligibility of both the employer and the caregiver.
Step 2: Document Preparation Our team will assist you in preparing all necessary documents, including the employment contract, proof of financial capacity, and the caregiver’s qualifications and medical examination.
Step 3: Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) We will help you apply for a positive LMIA from Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC). This step is crucial as it demonstrates the need for a foreign caregiver.
Step 4: Work Permit Application Once the LMIA is approved, we will guide the caregiver in applying for a work permit. This includes preparing the application package and ensuring all documents meet immigration requirements.
Step 5: Arrival and Integration After the work permit is granted, we will provide support to ensure a smooth transition for the caregiver including travel arrangements, orientation and integration into the family and community.
